How to Rollback Imports?

Quick guide to rolling back (undoing) imports

Overview

Rollback allows you to undo an entire import, restoring your store to its previous state. This is useful when an import doesn't produce the expected results or when you need to revert changes.

PrimeLink automatically tracks all items created or updated during imports, making rollback possible.

When Can You Rollback?

Requirements

Rollback is available when:

  • Import Completed: Import must have finished (successfully or with errors)
  • Tracking Enabled: Import tracking was enabled (automatic by default)
  • Items Tracked: Import created or updated items that can be rolled back

What Gets Rolled Back

Rollback can:

  • Delete Created Items: Remove all items created during import
  • Restore Updated Items: Restore updated items to their previous state
  • Both: Perform both actions (default)

How to Rollback

Step 1: Find Your Import

  1. Go to PrimeLink → Imports → Manage Imports
  2. Find the import you want to rollback
  3. Check if "Rollback" button is available

Step 2: View Rollback Summary

Before rolling back, you'll see a summary:

  • Number of items that would be deleted
  • Number of items that would be restored
  • Breakdown by item type

Step 3: Choose Rollback Options

Select what to rollback:

  • Delete Created Items: Remove all created items
  • Restore Updated Items: Restore updated items
  • Both: Perform both actions

Step 4: Confirm Rollback

Confirm the rollback action:

  • Review the summary
  • Confirm you want to proceed
  • Rollback cannot be undone

Rollback Results

After Rollback

You'll see a summary of results:

  • Deleted: Number of created items deleted
  • Restored: Number of updated items restored
  • Errors: Number of errors (if any)

Verifying Rollback

After rollback completes:

  • Check your store to verify changes
  • Created items should be removed
  • Updated items should be restored
  • Review any errors reported

Important Notes

Cannot Be Undone

⚠️ Warning: Rollback cannot be undone. Once you rollback an import, all created items are permanently deleted and updated items are restored. Make sure you want to proceed before confirming.

Dependencies

Be aware of dependencies:

  • Orders linked to imported products may be affected
  • Products linked to imported categories/tags will lose associations
  • Variations linked to imported attributes will be affected

Time-Sensitive

Rollback works best when:

  • Used soon after import
  • Before other changes are made
  • Before dependencies are created

Tips and Best Practices

  • Test First: Use Dry Run mode before running real imports
  • Review Before Rolling Back: Check import results before deciding to rollback
  • Backup First: Always backup your store before large imports or rollbacks
  • Rollback Promptly: Rollback soon after import if needed
  • Check Dependencies: Be aware of related items that may be affected
  • Document Changes: Keep notes of what was imported
